Are there social impacts of relying on AI for translations? Are AI translations neutral and inclusive? I discuss these and more in this very insightful new @languageonthemove.bsky.social podcast with Dr. Esther Monzรณ-Nebot. @newbooksnetwork.bsky.social

Inputting changes into the book draft from the handwritten comments on the hardcopy manuscript that @tulkur.bsky.social and I worked on together three weeks ago in Leeds, and having happy memories of how much fun and how hard we laughed while working on them ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ.
The book's not half bad, either. ๐

In his first interview since the shootings, Walz previewed a much larger remembrance to come. He told MPR News that heโs notified his team to prepare for the possibility of Hortman and her husband to lie in state at the Capitol.

14.06.2025 16:49 โ ๐ 88 ๐ 15 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1I handed in my ID badge at the hospital after my shift today... which means that for the first time in over 20 years (with the exception of a few months when I moved to Minnesota), I am not employed as an interpreter. ๐ฆ๐ง
02.06.2025 23:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So, long story made short, the schedule and role and duties and patterns I've been used to for more than a decade are being radically shifted, and there's a lot to process and get used to.
29.05.2025 22:43 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0... I have 1.5 shifts left to work there. I'm really sad to be leaving that job, but a full time job as a dean would not leave me time to work at the hospital as well.
I'll start my new job as an interim dean on June 4th.
So that's all the news that's been in the works lately. ...
... in interpreter training and education in various ways, including the noncredit offerings that the college will offer.
The other big change coming out of all of this is that I have resigned my position as a per diem interpreter at Children's Minnesota, where I have been for thirteen years. ...
... an administrator, overseeing several departments and taking an active role in college leadership.
After 14 years teaching in and later leading my program, it will be a big change. While I'm sad about the program being closed, I am excited about the new opportunity and will still be involved ...
... to that.
The second piece of the big change for me is that there have been some changes in our administrative leadership, as part of that I have been appointed as an interim dean for the next year. I'll still get to teach my last couple of classes of current students, but will also be...
... it hurts and is a massive and difficult change for the community (and for me, as well). I've also had to say "sorry, no, you can't register for fall" to a bunch of excited prospective students, which has been difficult.
The continuing education part is promising, though, and I look forward...
