We could just be reading great books, watching good movies, and eating fruit. Instead we have to survive/fight miserable power hoarders. What a waste of limited time.

I solved the puzzle of building a drip irrigation system recently. AI would not have been able to solve this one for me. The only way to do it was to stand in the plumbing aisle of the hardware store, and think it through while looking at the available pieces and the hand drawn map of my backyard.

14 year old me, *listening to the lyric, “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” for the first time*: what a clever and profound bit of word play.

Still love it today, to be honest.

People say they’re surprised to find the US in an almost mirror version of 1930s Germany as if Hitler and the Nazis didn’t find inspiration in Jim Crow segregation and the tactics designed to eliminate American Indians.

Using and acronym and calling it DEI allows them to distance themselves from what they’re really against. It’s a thought terminating cliche. Make them be proud of their opinion.

Favorite mixed modality of the moment: pulling tarot cards to bring clarity when I get stuck on a plot point. I often find the inspiration to get passed the writer’s block in these 78 cards.
