I've read some stuff (The Hidden Spring by Mark Solms) which argues persuasively that consciousness is the distinction between prediction and perception, and that our brains have evolved to minimise the difference between the two and optimise for a predictable environment.

The ad misrepresents the Presidential Radio Address, and the Government of Ontario did not seek nor receive permission to use and edit the remarks. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is reviewing its legal options in this matter. We encourage you to watch President Reagan's unedited video on our YouTube channel.
The post from the Reagan Foundation is just complete gibberish.
The ad did not, in fact, misrepresent Reagan's views. But the idea that anyone needs the Reagan Foundation's goddamn permission to use the publicly broadcast official remarks of a former president and/or edit them for brevity is crazy

What precipitates this motion now is a digital messaging exchange that occurred after the government brought charges, between purported interim U.S. Attorney Halligan and Anna Bower, a senior journalist for Lawfare, published on Monday, October 20, 2025.4 The article and the texts between the two are attached as Exhibits A and B, respectively. As reported and as confirmed by the Signal messages exchanged between Ms. Halligan and Ms. Bower, it was Ms. Halligan who initiated contact with the journalistβan unusual and improper occurrence. The exchange was a stunning disclosure of internal government information. On October 111, 2025- two days after charging Attorney General James with Bank Fraud and False Statements to a Financial InstitutionβMs. Halligan reached out to Ms. Bower to claim she was "reporting

Next year, we'll welcome 125,000 new New Yorkers to our city. But many families don't have what they need to give their babies a healthy start.
Building on @bkbpreynoso.bsky.social's pilot, we'll launch citywide Baby Baskets, providing new parents with essential items and resources.
Someone's in my mentions arguing that this ad isn't particularly newsworthy, but the former Democratic governor of New York leaning in to both AI and racism as a rear-guard action against an insurgent progressive feels like an important milestone in the fight for the Democratic Party's future.

You said "the existence of the tattoo is not enough to base a decision on".
I was pointing out that the existence of the tattoo was, in fact, the SECOND data point.
