Abusers routinely use “protection” to justify rabid and blatant attempts at gaining control over their victims. Any politician who proclaims to want to “protect” the innocent is just wants you to surrender more control in the name of safety. It’s not about safety. It’s an end to privacy and freedom.

I don’t know enough about the process to say. I’m sure there are more methodical ways than just ripping the cover off, but as far as structural integrity I have no idea. I’m sure the violent ripping is mostly for the shock value and to keep people watching.

Well, their getting new custom covers, which is cool art in and of itself, it just reads like vandalism for the first few seconds when there’s no caption and someone just sheers off the cover of Mistborn.

I need TikTok to stop jumpscaring me with videos of book rebindings. I keep seeing people rip the covers off of books and feeling agony all up in my spine. So if we could not that’s be great

Was so looking forward to #Weapons until I heard about the AI in the trailer. Words cannot express my utterly immeasurable disappointment in not just this film, its director, and the studio, but at the whole film industry. Pathetic.

Censorship is bad and evil no matter what form it takes. You can dress it up as an attempt to protect children, but keeping people ignorant protects no one, least of all children. NSFW art, games, and media is valuable as escapism, fantasy, and education. It deserves its seat at the table.

I've apparently upgraded to not being able to read less that 3 books at a time, so this week I'm reading: "When the Wolf Comes Home" by Nat Cassidy (one of my new favorite authors of all time), "The Way of Kings" by Brandon Sanderson, and "The Incandescent" by Emily Tesh.
