Kimmel probably knew that some of his listeners would take it to be him saying Robinson was MAGA, and he was OK with that. And I think Kirk probably knew some of his listeners would take what he said as a wider point about the intellectual capabilities of black women, and he was fine with that.

Complicating this is that both people were probably aware of the ambiguity of what they said, and that the worse people who are listening to them are taking things further than they are literally saying.

The other side repeats this as "Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person's slot". Once again, it is an interpretation of what Kirk said, and is literally not true - it is not what he said and takes it in the worst possible way.

The "you" in that sentence referred to Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

What Charlie Kirk actually said was "You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously."

The other side says that Kimmel lied about Robinson being MAGA, but you can see that Kimmel didn't actually say that. It is a "translation" as one critic put it, or an interpretation, but it is not literally in Kimmel's words and takes it in the worst possible way.

What Kimmel actually said is “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,”.

I was thinking of a comparison between how quotes are being used by the other side when it comes to Jimmy Kimmel and Charlie Kirk.
