Some humans have, however, caused the sixth mass #extinction in the history of earth within the last 10,000 years. While humans themselves are not flawed, some recent cultures are proven to be extremely self-destructive. How did it happen? What were we doing for the majority of our time here before?

DID YOU KNOW…. #Humans are not innately flawed animals. What we call “Humans” (The Homo Genus) evolved at least 2.5 million years ago. Our current species, #HomoSapiens, hasn’t changed significantly in the last 200,000 years. If humans were innately flawed we would not have #survived this long.

As someone who was there it was clear that ICE intended to fire teargas on the labor march, directing shots over the heads of those closest to the building and firing munitions directly at the crowd. They even chose munitions that would have the widest possible effect.

Haha, yes. This. This is why Neolithic villages were destroyed every few years for the first 5,000 years of it. Sedentary peoples shit (and their animals shit) accumulates. Living in filth, in dense populations, with poorer diets are the prime conditions for disease.

What is your favorite #rewilding related activity, and why?

For people wondering why local police aren't stopping ICE/CBP, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is not role of the police. The role of the police, *has always been* to reinforce hierarchies, be they racial hierarchies, class hierarchies, or both. Their role *has never been* to protect/serve anyone but those at the top of those hierarchies.

I gave a talk recently on #copingmechanisms that I’ve developed for myself over years and then led a discussion afterward to hear other people’s. I’m curious what other folks in this space might have to offer? What do you do to stay calm and focused and keep going?

We know that it's going to collapse… but we don't know when. There's this saying in filmmaking, that suspense is knowing what is going to happen, but not knowing when it is going to happen. The anticipation exaggerates the #anxiety.

We're living in the #sixthmassextinction right now caused by civilization. Once you understand that, it's pretty easy to make a call that things are going to be rapidly changing, especially if you start to study history and understand the history of collapses.

It’s a really weird thing to have lived for over 25 years in an #existentialcrisis that just keeps fucking going. When you kind of have this understanding of systems #collapse and #diminishing-returns it’s simple math to understand society will collapse hard at some point.

For example, when people say "agriculture" for a different kind of cultivation, what they really mean is actually #horticulture, or any of the alternative forms of cultivation or #subsistence.

People often conflate agriculture with the word "cultivation." Cultivation comes from the root word "colere" which meant, "to till the soil." This is because agro-centric civilizations didn't recognize any other forms of cultivation as such.

To maintain a field, one must fight #ecologicalsuccession. This is where the concept of "#Weeds" stems from. To maintain a field (outside of a flood plain), you have to cut down the forest and stop it from growing back…

Did you know "agriculture" probably doesn't mean what you think it means?... The word #agriculture is two parts: agri + #culture. The word "agri" means #field and "culture" means to cultivate. Agriculture is literally "field #cultivation."
