I am 100% sure I rode that exact bus. ;-) Did you know some of those buses now shuttle people between Wild Horse campground and the Gorge amphitheater? They did get painted at some point.

Thanks to Thom Hartmann and 91.3 KBCS for hosting me last night at Town Hall! I enjoyed sharing a little of my vision for the city, including my idea for publicly funded local media (News Notes), which got a great response from the crowd.

In the 4.5-mile bike ride to pick up my kids from school, I found the following in painted bike lanes: at least 6 trash bins, a parked car, a parked firefighter truck (likely lunch break), and a parked city maintenance vehicle. This is unacceptable, and another reason why paint is not infrastructure

A blue graphic with the Wilson transition team logo at the top with a block of text that says: yesterday, I was appalled by the dehumanizing language of the president of the United States used to describe members of our nation's Somali community. today, I've learned that ice intends to deport Greggy "Kuta G"Sorio, who's been held for months at the Northwest detention center without proper medical Care, despite his precarious physical condition. we must not allow this repeated and intensifying cruelty to become normalized. I stand in solidarity with our immigrant communities who are under attack from the very government that should be protecting their human and civil rights. as mayor, I will do everything I can to stand with the targets of this needless aggression. I will work to make sure that every resident of our city feels safe, secure, and respected. this is your city

Despite this incredibly predictable abuse of the growing surveillance panopticon, Mayor Harrell & the conservative majority on Seattle city council voted to put an SPD camera less than *450 feet* from Planned Parenthood’s Northgate location

It was a joy to join Rev. Dr. Robert L. Jeffrey, Sr of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, the Low Income Housing Institute, and other community leaders to break ground at a new affordable housing project. Over 90 families in the Central District will be housed as a result of this multi-year project

WA leads lawsuit against Trump’s β€˜Housing First’ homelessness reversal Washington has joined 19 other states in suing the Trump administration over efforts to impose strict new conditions on homelessness funds to states.

Trump’s new rules could throw 170,000 people back onto the streets, including tens of thousands in WA, by stripping $120M from proven homelessness programs. WA’s AG Nick Brown is saying hell no. He’s leading a multistate lawsuit to stop this reckless attack on Housing First.

Count us in the β€œlove our heat pump” group. Much less expensive and we are warm in winter and can use it as AC on hot Seattle days. An Obama era energy efficiency program helped us transition from dirty, costly heating oil. I wish this for all.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.
