Can flights hit net zero by 2025 and at what cost to passengers?
Governments don’t want to tell people they’re going to have to pay more, argues an expert.
Infuriating.
Packed with the denial that is leaving our planet to burn.
The Committee on Climate Change have been clear no more aviation expansion - and demand reduction (frequent flyer levy) is the conversation we need to have.

Nnedi Okorafor | 'When something is really complicated, people want to simplify it so that it’s easier to digest and so that they can kind of control the narrative'
Death of the Author explores how life and art intersect in a genre-defying tale.
An interview in The Bookseller about DEATH OF THE AUTHOR
"Part SFF, part literary fiction, part family saga and part diasporic tale, the novel defies labelling."
Also, I explain the title a bit more (outside of the Barthes reference).

They are obviously better. At once less complicated (because not so much difference between positionals and what they all do relative to one another), but also spatially trickier because of bloodlust, so managing the turn sequence is key. Necros are just so cute but they can’t compare to StR4 Ag2!

I’ll take Vamps I reckon, and try to remember to use that Hypnogaze! But we’ll be a team so luckily I won’t have to face the pain of losing to Black Orcs!

Well, last night I was practicing my Blood Bowl vamp tactics with @jennycromwell.bsky.social and her Black Orcs. Lesson learned: always prepare for the deep field lob. This gobbo made the one turn touchdown after being thrown on a long pass! What a hero.

Mark your calendar: Festival of Game Culture (29.–31.5.2025, Tampere) is a celebration of games, play and scholarship. This witty, playful, thought-provoking and fun event both summarizes some of the work conducted in the CoE GameCult in 2018-25 and explores the future prospectives for game culture.

Finally getting back to some writing today. My mission - deconstruct game studies’ cosy relationship with systems thinking to properly decolonize how we make, play and think about games. There’s better ways to do games - we don’t have to repeat imperialist dogma to understand how games work.

I adore Indigenizing Philosophy through the Land - the book I’m reading right now. It has the absolute best takedown of the concept of identity I’ve read anywhere. “The most vacuous concept ever invented, at least in relation to something as concrete as a human person.” Suck it, Locke.

Birthday so far: Ate too much cheesecake made by my boyf and his son and got cool presents, including a raven skull necklace. Will celebrate part 2 with my son tomorrow. Rumour has it that he’s got me the undead BB team. Being 42 doesn’t mean you stop getting toys and goth jewelry so it’s alright.

Speed kills: are police chases out of control? | Police | The Guardian
The long read: The public expects cops to pursue the bad guys. But a shocking tally of deaths has exposed how often these chases put the public at risk
This is an old article but worth reading. We were caught up in the aftermath of the police pursuit that shut down the M62 yesterday. Luckily all we had to endure was four hours of being stuck in traffic - but someone else wasn’t so lucky and is now in hospital. amp.theguardian.com/news/2019/ju...
