A Groundbreaking Geothermal Heating and Cooling Network Saves This Colorado College Money and Water - Inside Climate News When a former oil and gas developer partnered with Colorado Mesa University on geothermal, the school saved millions and set a new standard for energy-efficient buildings.

"Since its geothermal buildout began in 2008, [Colorado Mesa University] has saved more than $15 million in energy costs, money it has passed on to students through lower tuition and more scholarship funding," reports @mckennapr.bsky.social: insideclimatenews.org/news/0702202... πŸ”ŒπŸ’‘

What’s driving up Maine’s energy bills? Natural gas. A new report finds more renewable energy could help make electricity more affordable, despite efforts to scapegoat clean power for rising costs.

A new report from The Brattle Group found that "continuing the electrification of home heating" in Maine will improve #EnergyAffordablity in the state, per this story in @canarymedia.com from Sarah Shemkus. #HeatPump #BuildingDecarb #EnergySky #ClimateSky

It is not complicated.

#AllElectric buildings, heated and cooled by #HeatPumps, will help us achieve #EnergyAffordability.

We are now in our 9th winter of not burning fossil fuels for heat. The future can be awesome.

Maybe the central gas with ducts is the issue. When it is really cold, the furnace runs all the time, so you are warm. When it is not, it runs and then shuts off, so you end up being cold. But if you want an answer you can trust, ask @shreyassudhakar.com or @energysmartwv.bsky.social
