Apparently, I now have to verify my age in order to read direct messages (or access 'adult content' - though TBH, I didn't realise there was any on Bluesky). Therefore, please don't DM me.

For me, nine times out of ten the YouTube app on one of my TVs plays its start up sound through the TV speaker, even if:

* I have headphones plugged in
* I have disabled the speakers (audio output = headphones only) in the TV settings

* And even if I hit mute before launching it.

No. Let ME eat cake!

Real life example of the truth in this from Tuesday: I was sat at my desk, confused by some data on my screen, when someone came over with a piece of cake for me. She commented about the change in my expression, which immediately went from "WTF is going on, this makes no sense 🫤" to "Oooh, cake! 😃"

Indeed.

You can use the search with a term like 'horror' - but that's a crap way to browse, because you have to punch through to each title for the details.

And probably doesn't give you all the results - Netflix, like everyone else, has a terrible search.

TBF, that is ALL action movies, I suppose. Or arguably all movies.

Nice find.

If I ever finish off my spreadsheet of these events and do something with it, little things like that will have to be included.

What I really want is to be able to select a proper category (eg horror), possibly a second (eg comedy), then have all the films listed with sorting options - default to alphabetical (but correctly handle 'the'), with duration, year, whatever, as alternatives.

Not carefully curated arse cakes.

Just looked at Netflix for the first time in a while. The categories they show have always been annoying, it's never shown all possible categories, etc., but now it's even shittier.

"Action movies with a hint of this"

"Thriller movies with a hint of that"

Just fuck off with that bollocks.

Didn't say anything about living in it*. (Though come the apocalypse, it might be an option).

* For a start, by the time my belongings are in it there'd be no room for me.

I've been working on Ovation Pro to add extra scaling options to the picture proxy setting. For those who attended my @rougol.bsky.social talk, I explained the use of proxy images. Base/16, Base/32 & Base/64 now offer even smaller proxies, making for smaller document sizes.

Yes. When I last checked, the two monitors I sent back in March (the day I set off to the Lake District, immediately before the RISC OS North show) are still at the drop off point.

I chased them for a refund in April, which they gave me the same day.

Holy moly - someone's only gone and made David Braben's Zarch/Virus for the BBC Micro!

Angus Hughes has effectively achieved the impossible - it has all of the speed of the Archimedes original.

Stunning!

Haven't thought about it before, but I think I'd prefer some kind of ejector seat to an airbag.

Not for practical reasons - because it simply wouldn't be. 😂

There is at least one other industry I can think of that has a fixed charge AND unit charges, although it's only B2B (and small fry - like me - can usually get fixed charges only, thank Cthulhu!)

Business banking - a fixed monthly fee, AND per-transaction charges.

See also merchant card services.
