The cool thing about this stuff is, even absent of any magic if that’s not someone’s deal, there’s still so much power in sitting down and focusing your good intentions on protecting and welcoming a new human. There’s something Good about that in a very primal sense. We love a ritual!!

I can't fully (and don't want to!) replace social media. It's given me untold access to friends, to opportunities, to an audience for my life's works. But I can draw a line around it, notice that the pleasure it gives me is thin and unsatisfying, and remember to do the harder work of finding better.

+1 on this recc! Something I've been incorporating into my self-care and my relationship with technology is the concept of pleasure-seeking. The wire mother of the digital age hijacks your dopamine without providing tangible reward. You'll struggle to reject it unless you find better pleasure.
