Wishing you the very best with that. By chance - last Sunday at church we had a visit from a choir that sings at the bedside of dying people in the hospice - very lovely to hear the comforting songs and to hear about their work.

Research scientist in my 30s to Unitarian minister in my (late) 40s. Academia was dreadful for my mental health. I gave that job up before I had somewhere else to go. I was already volunteering for the church and slowly paid opportunities emerged. It took a long time but I'm in the right place now.

'Dumplings and consciousness remain' feels like good religion.

It's going to take me a while to get my bearings here. The temptation is to imagine I've just stepped back in time to 2008 when I first joined The Other Place. But I'm different and the world is different and I probably need to recalibrate (and get clear on what I'm here for).

It's a brilliant book - particularly enjoyed your telling of it in the audio version - and have been recommending it to friends.
