Malnormalulo (any pronouns)

I think too much, but sometimes it comes in handy. "Any pronouns" in my case means "surprise me". I don't click Substack links. Profile picture adapted from art by Don Cabanza.

"But some of the numbers in the data tables did not add up correctly”

Their results relied on incorrect ADDITION, which lay in plain sight for anyone who actually looked at the tables.

In any science deserving of the name, this should be borderline career-ending not only for the study authors, but also for the reviewers.

Pay Jacob Reed using PayPal.Me Go to paypal.me/Aldia19 and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.

So, I am afraid we've not really moved on this for a few days, and are in dire need of help.

Taxes ended up being more than I anticipated.

I appreciate all that everyone's done.

a much more constructive and reasonable anarchism affirms the importance of public services and looks for ways to decouple them from the state, construct a community-driven alternative, or obviate the need for them entirely by tackling more fundamental problems

05.02.2026 17:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

our dependence on these government services buttresses the ideology that we depend on the repressive state apparatus (we need roads, so we need taxes, so we need courts and prisons for tax enforcement), but this does not make the service itself bad

05.02.2026 17:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

anarchism can easily be distorted into "everything the government does is bad", which is objectively not true. the FDA, for instance, was a huge boon for public health before this admin got ahold of it. the problem is not that these government programs exist, but that they depend on the government.

Does this mean they can just introduce artificial bottlenecks so that appeals are automatically denied before they even get to the board for consideration?

Okay serious question: what is the best way to keep track of what your own Rep/Senators are doing? Their votes, at minimum, but ideally also their procedural actions, their committee participation, their public statements.

Netflix aren't exactly allies, but I'm here for anyone calling out straight up disinformation.

Good on him, honestly, for straight up calling Hawley a liar.

Powers of the Minority β€” Alex Rikleen | Democrat for Senate

"But what can Democrats do, they're out of power?"
I get that question a lot.
So I made this guide.
Because members of Congress have a lot of power, even in the minority - especially in the Senate.

All in all, while Le's frustrated asides got the most attention, this hearing is most shocking for how little control there is over ICE. Even an experienced and respected AUSA like Anna Voss can't get them within a mile of compliance.

inspired by CLAUDE.md, I’ve started putting markdown files named after coworkers into work code repos so I can remind them to stop doing shit to the codebase that annoys me

for some reason they’re all mad at me now, which means ill be adding commands to JEREMY.md for an attitude adjustment

It was in fact invented thousands of years ago (but became far more common and standardized in, indeed, the 1800s)

Orthodontics sounds like quackery made up in the 1800s that should not work, like smoke enemas or milk transfusions. "Let's just push on your teeth constantly and they'll literally reposition in your jawbone."

if a plumber told me he did common sense pipe layout i’d fire him. motherfucker i can do common sense pipe layout. i specifically want the opposite of that

As a point of comparison, I do not write software with common sense. I write software with uncommon, hard-earned sense, which may at times be quite unintuitive from a layperson's perspective. I am a professional, you see, so I apply my specialist knowledge to my work.

04.02.2026 02:07 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I do not, in fact, want common sense from my legislators. I want expertise. I want them to apply their knowledge of law, and I want them to consult appropriate experts in other areas. I want them to approach their jobs like fucking professionals.

It's not the biggest problem here, obviously, but it's not not a problem: "COMMONSENSE" DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING. IT IS AN EMPTY TERM. STOP ACTING LIKE IT'S A MEANINGFUL DESCRIPTOR FOR ANY POLICY.

maybe I'm misinterpreting a statement about the present moment as a sweeping generalization, but it was phrased like a sweeping generalization

this doesn't mean it doesn't work, it means you don't use a hammer to drive in a screw. it is not the right kind of tactic for this situation; it is the right tactic for completely different situations

yes exactly. that's why you don't see many people trying it right now
