Indie developer making games in my spare time! UE5, Steam/PC
I was going to be angry if this wasn't menu related
21.12.2025 21:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ahhh I need to add this too
29.11.2025 16:47 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Congratulations!
28.11.2025 17:48 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Full game loop in regardless how rudimentary it is, is a massive achievement well done!
22.11.2025 20:20 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Looks incredible!!
15.11.2025 12:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This looks unbelievably smooth - did you do the art and anim yourself?
14.11.2025 22:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0making your own tools is one of the best things you can do in your game development process
14.11.2025 01:38 โ ๐ 143 ๐ 30 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 1I love this idea! Seems like a beneficial move for both parties.
13.11.2025 21:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!
12.11.2025 17:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I enjoyed this article a lot! AI feels inevitable, although with the amount of money people are pouring into it I think a crash is on the horizon. We'll consolidate down to a few different key players and continue to bury it's way into OS's and key DCC's. Like a tick.
12.11.2025 09:06 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Fun fact. The mechanic of this infinite wedding dine room is inspired by retro game. The world scrolling can technically be done with GameObject and object pooling, but I think instanced rendering will be better for the performance. ๐งต

I love this art, it's a nice blend styles! Is it all post processing? What's your engine?
10.11.2025 19:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm developing a first-person puzzle escape game, Back Alley.
Implemented an early event scene! Syncing animation, sound, and UI was toughโbut seeing it all come together is incredibly fun.
Still a long way to go, but I'll keep going!

02.11.2025 18:31 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That makes total sense! So you never need to go back in order to take another route to get to the exit?
02.11.2025 14:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Well done! Any release is a reason to celebrate!
02.11.2025 13:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That makes sense!
Do you have a maximum backtracking amount the play can do?
(Sorry for the q's, I'm curious about proc gen for my own projects)
Does this generation allow for 'islands' in the middle, or will I always be able to find the exit if I hug the left (or right) wall the entire time? Are there any clues to finding the correct way through the maze?
02.11.2025 11:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Looks cool though!
02.11.2025 09:45 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In my opinion we've got to stop talking about the engines in terms of which is better for beginners.
I made Demeter in 9 months with zero experience using UE5 and only using blueprints.
If I started with Unity because I'm a beginner, the game never would have been made because I can't program!
I didn't even know the deck had accelerometers!!
01.11.2025 10:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This looks great! How about a lighting pass on playable space versus dressing? I'm not sure where I'm supposed to run as the player currently.
29.06.2025 19:58 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We won!
Thank you to everyone who voted, and well done to everyone who participated. It was a surprisingly difficult theme but there were some excellent entries!
Now to make it into a full release...?

Do up down left right all call the same follow logic? Are you calculating in degrees and it's getting a funky 0.0001 degree when it goes up? Does it think the player is still in the way and is pathing to avoid collision? That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
15.06.2025 19:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If you're a solo dev or small indie, you can't expect to be the best at everything. As long as you can put your ego aside and understand which advice to take and which to ignore (and build up a network of people who are willing to give advice!) then you'll be in a strong position imo.
13.06.2025 13:42 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0UI is the absolute worst. I've never found any software that handles it gracefully.
Wait until you design for 2k, 4k, ultra wide, super ultra wide etc. just the pits
