Asian countries handled COVID better as they acted on lessons from previous outbreaks such as SARS, doing hard work on policies such as normalizing mask wearing.
Western countries are recklessly doing the opposite & making us more vulnerable to future pandemics by
stigmatizing & banning masks.
As a GP I genuinely believe there is a coordinated & ongoing effort being made to ensure doctors are not exposed to much of the research on COVID induced illness. I have rarely seen COVID mentioned by any single system specialist as a contributor following outpatient visits.

Staff, patients and visitors must now wear masks when visiting or working in clinical areas, including outpatient areas.
The government's own commissioned report highlighted quite clearly that the NHS is too small and is grossly under-resourced. Despite this, Labour continues to focus on βreformβ and on pushing more NHS resources into the private sector | Dr Daniel Goyal

Many of those admitted for influenza will then get Covid-19 in hospital through nosocomial infection. Co-infection with both flu and Covid leads to increased morbidity and mortality, and increased duration of hospital stay. Yet little to no airborne infection control.

[10 Dec 2024] Opening Remarks from Dr Tedros at yesterdayβs @who.int media briefing:

βWe cannot talk about COVID in the past tense.
βItβs still with us, it still causes acute disease and Long COVID, and it still kills.
βThe world might want to forget about COVID-19, but we cannot afford to.β
Having seen a patient yesterday who has been ravaged by COVID19 with multiple complications - just a friendly reminder that we know an awful lot about the pathophysiology. Superb review here;

The boat is sinking so no more room. But we insist on the right to drill holes in it and will be abusive to anyone trying to plug them.
08.12.2024 08:49 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Why donβt public health ask us to mask up so that it reduces the pressure on the NHS? Why wonβt they tell people that it would reduce their risk of catching anything airborne?
08.12.2024 08:51 β π 5 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0After trying for 4 years many of us have given up trying to influence this. Losing battle - utter failure of leadership at the top of infection prevention which has been laid bare at the Covid Inquiry.
08.12.2024 08:45 β π 33 π 5 π¬ 3 π 0Sean, my Ambulance colleagues weren't even wearing masks this week bringing in patients who tested positive for COVID. Only 15% of colleagues have had a flu or COVID vaccine locally.
If healthcare can't follow science now we're in big trouble this winter.
If only govt & NHSE would sort #CleanAir in healthcare settings. This would reduce number of NHS staff being ill & unable to work, reduce poorly patients & the length of hospital stays-thus freeing up beds, reducing pressure on ED/ambulances & electives! #FutureProofOurNHS

With the holidays coming up, many of us will be having people over. To help lower the risk of catching something, now is a good time to measure how well your home is ventilated, and what you can do to improve its ventilation.

Still monitoring CO2 levels.

I don't think senior managers refusing to call incidents to try and save face helps anyone.
Patients & staff suffer and won't receive any extra support as the msg publicly is "we're okay".
Staff are the canaries in the coal mine and their concerns must be recognised.
