It’s devastating to see Americans shot in the streets, but even more shocking that people are caught off guard.
Kamala Harris warned us: A Trump presidency would mean force used against its own citizens. We’re living the scenario we were told to fear.

✔️House Democrats have proposed real, common sense solutions to reform ICE – including requiring warrants for ICE to enter private property, ensuring agents wear body cameras, stopping racial profiling, unmasking agents, prohibiting ICE from entering schools, churches, and more.

✔️Howard County Council signed into law legislation to prohibit privately owned buildings from operating as detention centers within our communities. Howard County is leading the nation in standing up for our neighbors. I was proud to testify in support of this legislation & join the bill signing.

My Democratic colleagues and I are united in the fight for full accountability and transparency from DHS and ICE. Here’s a quick update on actions we’ve taken over the last week:

✔️I voted NO once again on additional funding for ICE.

The vile video is racist. Period. And it came from a racist White House. If you can't say that, what are we doing here.

The heroic people of Minneapolis and all Americans uplifting their voices and their communities to oppose Trump’s deadly authoritarianism have transformed the politics of 2026. Massive popular organizing will beat fascism. Keep marching, keep fighting everyone.

As this Administration continues to weaponize ICE and stoke fear in our communities, we will work with our partners at all levels of government to protect the safety and dignity of our neighbors.

Third, we must hold the line. Senate Democrats have announced that they will also vote NO on blank checks to DHS and ICE. I have voted NO on funding to DHS, I have called for the impeachment of Secretary Noem, and I will continue to use every tool at my disposal to ensure justice and accountability.

With increased ICE activity in Maryland and across the country, today’s edition of Sarah Explains It All is a reminder to you of one of the many ways that my office is here to help you.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.

Contrary to federal rhetoric, Mayor Frey and other City leaders have consistently called for peace and calm as our community confronts the incursion of federal agents sowing chaos in our streets.

The federal government is looking for any opportunity to further escalate the crisis we’re facing right now, and the City continues to urge protesters and observers to respond by showing the world the welcoming, unified, and loving values that define Minneapolis.

Today, I joined Minnesota leaders in front of Congressional members to share the impacts ICE actions have had on our neighbors. Democrat or Republican, we should all be speaking out against unconstitutional federal actions in our communities.

This is an obvious attempt to intimidate me for standing up for Minneapolis, our local law enforcement, and our residents against the chaos and danger this Administration has brought to our streets. I will not be intimidated. My focus will remain where it’s always been: keeping our city safe.
