Now that the Adobe debacle has started to die down, please don’t forget about the animators. There are a lot of crafts, including animation, that have gotten the shit end of the stick during bargaining for decades. My craft is dying. We need more in house animation.

swapping programs is like swapping from oil paint to watercolor.... and if you have a full supply of oils, a team who specializes in oils, and a client that is expecting oil paintings in a few months..

we cant just be reprogrammed! it takes time to make new workflows, muscle memory and nuances

Their phone line is, obviously, pretty backed up. But I think it's worth registering your displeasure as a customer when a company just decides that work you've done over a decade is going to become completely inaccessible at their whim.

People love to hate Animate, but it's capable of doing things faster and cheaper than just about any other software out there.

Harmony is a much more powerful program, but for basic tasks you use a hammer, and Animate was that hammer. As we know, Adobe hates its customers.

I've lived and breathed Flash since I was 12. It has been the majority of my professional career and I'm just so fucking frustrated. It has to be because they couldn't figure out how to shove AI into it. Animate today is Flash from 2005 with a bunch of shit grafted onto it.

Announcing the end of life for Adobe Animate. Thanks for bringing your ideas to life with Animate. Starting March 1, 2026, the app will no longer be available for purchase. Existing Animate customers may continue to use the app. Support will continue for enterprise customers for three years, through March 1, 2029. For all other customers, support will continue for one year, through March 1, 2027. In the future, check out Adobe After Effects for complex keyframe animations and Adobe Express for one-click animation effects that you can easily apply to photos, videos, text, shapes, and other design elements.

Adobe Animate remains an industry standard for TV animation. Star Trek: Lower Decks was made in Animate. Haunted Hotel was made in Animate. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was made in Animate.

And because you can't buy a permanent licence anymore, it'll just be gone.
