The writ of habeas corpus—the principle that you can't be arrested/imprisoned without judicial process—is a foundational right in our republic. Yes, according to the Constitution, it can be suspended in cases of "Rebellion or Invasion," but no reasonable person would conclude that is where we are.

This will eventually become reality. In the meantime, steady and persistent resistance is required.

No matter what this Administration tells the American people, the law is very clear: Members of Congress have a legal right to enter any DHS detention facility to conduct oversight without prior notice - something I’ve done twice this year without issue.

Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, Kristi Noem and a whole lot of ICE/DHS types is will discover a Strange New Respect for habeas corpus and the rule of law when the 2029 Truth and Reconciliation Commission arrests them for human trafficking, conspiracy, kidnapping, and child abuse.
