Rep. Massie advised a discharge petition that would force DOJ to release Epstein files. It “ripens” 7 legislative days after it’s filed. If the House is in session tomorrow, it would ripen on 7/24. If they’re out tomorrow, it doesn’t ripen until after August recess

OK this is something. Stick with me here. The way this is constructed, if the Rule passes, the recissions bill passes. It’s not part of an underlying bill. It’s deeming itself without ever being debated.

I’ve seen plenty of deemers tucked into other bills. But not their own bill. This is WEIRD.

The House is coming to the floor and debate the Rule that just cleared Rules committee…and if the Rule passes a floor vote, it will automatically deem the Senate recissions bill passed.

No debate. No nothing. Just a deemer attached to a Rule.

It clears that vote, CPB and PBS are defunded.
