05.02.2026 06:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I remember having problems with the script but also enjoying the movie overall (which usually for me means that filmmaking made up for whatever story problems I noted). But that's literally all I recall. Why do you call it garbage?

WHY, IT'S THE DEPENDABLE D-MAN, DISAPPOINTING DEFENDER OF DEFUNCT HEROES!

Ha! Nice!
Guess another Byrne Galactus story opens up that way.
Oops: *sounds OR feels
04.02.2026 14:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'll have to find that & reread it. Is it the one that opens with a splash of Galactus, close on his face, and he's saying (if i recall), "I... hunger"?
I remember digging that story, but I wasn't a big fan of Byrne's run overall (felt he wrote the book like Star Trek, not so much like an FF book).
This is seriously the ONLY way that the term "Mandelorian" makes sense in the STAR WARS universe. There's literally nothing else that sounds it feels like that word in that entire galaxy (that I'm aware of).

GREEN GOBLIN --
By the Brothers Hildebrandt.
And I want to write OBSOLETE PLASTIC MAN.
But, also, I'd 100% read Waid's Deadman!
TBF, Mickey Mouse cartoons WERE funny until around 1939. What they ALWAYS lacked was the, er, moxie -- the NY attitude you'd see in Popeye, Tom & Jerry, or Bugs Bunny. And they'd slowly get more and more saccharine. After Brave Little Tailor, Walt nixed anything fun involving Mickey for some reason.
03.02.2026 23:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Most of the grumbling seems to be that it's not a superhero/punch-'em-out story. That's NOT my problem with it. For me, it has the She-Hulk problem: Great concept, but the scripts could've used another pass. The commentary and (potential) satire is just not as sharp as it could be...as it SHOULD be.

Day 3: Scarlet Witch
So, I put on a Jerry Seinfeld voice for Reisers ALIENS character... but is my acting as Jerry BAD enough? I tried, I really tried!

It's ridiculous. A week is too long. My street also doesn't get plowed well anymore. Bloomberg improved that issue city wide; De Blasio came in, made changes to the plowing sked (apparently against the advice of Sanitation); Adams never tackled it, so it's been terrible ever since. In WaHI anyway.

(App is called Radio Paradise if curious -- no ads, free DL.)

My street is a wall of trash that's not been picked up in a week.

03.02.2026 09:11 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0A friend of mine, a cinephile just watched it and said the same thing. She also said she felt the 2 principles gave terrible performances, and she's a fan of both of them.
As such, I've pushed it to the top of my watch list. ππ
Reacting to every single person be interacted with is going to exhaust you. He operated in famous circles, for both legit AND despicable purposes. Don't jump to conclusions, even if (or perhaps b/c) Woody Allen was present.

03.02.2026 01:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0BTW, you're right about the period, "or bust" WAS STILL popular in culture right into the '40s, again, b/c you'd it in cartoons a lot. And cartoons, much like most comic books, reflected what was happening in pop culture at the time.
02.02.2026 15:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agreed. That's why I came to the same conclusion. At first it thought maybe a game show of the time, but even game shows weren't giving it THAT kind of dough! It's definitely a cultural reference.
02.02.2026 15:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That was fun!
Also: '80s (not 80's)π
In the '80s, a preppy t-shirt co. in the mould of Izod, Le Tigre i think it was called, did TV spots bringing that song back; as a result, that Betty Boop cartoon made its way back into rotation in the Β½-hr Popeye cartoon block for a while. (Most of my early 20th century knowledge is from cartoons.)
02.02.2026 09:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They're all pop culture references... but it seems from a variety of eras. "Oh, you kid" was from the 1920s, but still popular in the '30s, b/c i know it from early Daffy Duck cartoons. "Or Bust" began in the Gold Rush. Car For Sale/$100k seems VERY specific to Not be a literary or radio reference.
02.02.2026 09:50 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Thank you for sharing! Most of the links at the site don't seem to work any longer. There's probably a bootleg of it on YouTube somewhere!
02.02.2026 08:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Additionally, every song in PRINCE OF EGYPT is incredible. Written & composed by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Godspell) with arrangements by Hans Zimmer and "Deliver Us" had additional arrangements by Martin Erskine and Andrew Lippa.

Forgot: The amazing, & somehow poorly reviewed, ADDAMS FAMILY animated movie, was directed by
Greg Tiernan &
Conrad Vernon; screenplay by
Matt Lieberman. I π€the other iterations, but this is, BY FAR, the most true to Charles Addams's original cartoons than ANY other version.
