As part of his research, Agarwal considered the various pressures and challenges posed to nature in Scotland and India and community efforts for re-wilding, as well as the ongoing various multidisciplinary conversations to rethink urban sustainability as part of a larger ecospace.

In 2017, Agarwal undertook a research residency in the Scottish Highlands supported by the John Muir Trust to inform a print studio residency at Edinburgh Printmakers.

Bridging the divide between art and activism he addresses the entangled questions of nature and its futures using photography, video, text, installation, and printmaking. His work ranges from the long documentary to the conceptual and performative and has regularly published photobooks and diaries.

As a member of Edinburgh Printmakers for some years she has found stone lithography to be her preferred medium, where she can best express her fascination with ancient stone structures.

Jil's practice as a printmaker centres around stone lithography where she enjoys benefiting from the painterly possibilities of the medium, the process itself and the decisions and choices to be made, the layering of the colours and the magical moment peeling the paper from the stone.

AMPHORAE is inspired by a group of Roman ceramic wine and olive oil containers shipwrecked off the coast of southern France. Released from their watery graves their elegant shapes, with the added encrustations from their underwater experience, have been recreated on the lithographic stone.

She aims to celebrate and give narratives to the wide and complex diversity of this world, whilst having fun with the process and overall imagery.  
This artwork celebrates the importance of togetherness and the tranquillity found in being with others.

By exploring her own family's Indian heritage and immigration, she collects pockets of inspiration, piecing them together like a collage. Aspects of mythology, traditions and memories play a strong part in her prints, illustrated with an amalgamation of shapes and colours from distant places.

Event Postponement

Edinburgh Printmakers' scheduled talk with Richard Demarco on 12 February has been postponed.

We have received the very sad news that Anne, Richard’s wife of 69 years, has passed away. We send our deepest condolences to Richard and Anne’s family and friends during this time.
