So Chevy Chase Pavilion is now one pinball arcade and the Cheesecake Factory for businesses. That certainly feels dystopian

The other map with all bus routes in DC is just directly applied to the wall and across the mezzanine from the bus stop map as well. I think the decision to go away from the last wayfinding consultant/firm was just a bad choice as well.

I don’t mind the stop placement map here but I’m not sure without the context of the lines *where* the buses actually run rather than labels telling you the final destination is the best decision. They also got one of these placements wrong I think

The simplification of the route to cut out the jog over to Adams Morgan was fine if we were to receive that frequency boost in exchange. Especially given the relatively short distance most are traveling along the corridor especially as a metro feeder

Reminded today that I think frequency determines ridership as much as the inverse. Especially for the average length of trip on the corridor I do think that moving to 15, if not 10 minute, headways was something we should have gotten with the WMATA bus redesign on Connecticut Ave for the D70

The school routes depicted here are interesting and mostly good (the location of MacArthur High School is still bad)

lol, I mean I have tried to withdraw as much as possible. 25 days on the east coast and working about 20 hours less a week than I have been the past 5 months means I have more time off this bs 😅

lol I haven’t even gotten to experience the IRL signage. I’m sure I will have plenty of thoughts though. I have not been particularly impressed by the metrorail updates despite appreciating the directional signage for the trunks

That’s fine, it’s just really hard to know the intricacies in these routes and schedules without them really being written down anywhere? The map does not make it clear that it is depicting part time extensions or routes in the same way as the full time portions

The D74 as a route is also just a hell of a trip

I’m a couple weeks away from coming back to DC for much of November and taking a look at the bus redesign and there are certainly some massive wins (specifically crosstown connectivity from my house). I’m still utterly baffled at the lack of PDF schedules though as I find more quirks in bus routes

Yeah, covering for someone else’s shift hence the hours

There are certainly worse things I have read about in my couple minutes of downtime in this 13 hour shift

Telling a bus driver to smile more as a group of people rush a bus in front of the passenger in a wheelchair you have to realistically take first is a hell of a way to treat a public servant. Cruises ship passengers continue staying the worst group of people to deal with

This is not what the timetable PDF used to show, it’s significantly more limited and shows only one direction and a third of the day travel times. It is significantly less useful for understanding service as a whole on a line especially when we go through a service change of this magnitude.

@wmata.com getting rid of the bus schedule PDF’s for the new bus network is so unbelievably rider unfriendly. I was hoping that this was just a delay with them not being ready on the first day but we are almost two weeks into this new network now

This is also significantly less bus trips than I actually used with all the broken fareboxes and somewhat fewer rail trips since I used another SmarTrip for a bit

It’s somewhat amusing looking at all of the WMATA wraps online and seeing just how rail heavy many of them are, especially given that more transit trips within the District are made by bus (at least historically)

Even on just warm days midday you’ll see a decent amount of people there even on weekdays
