Two years ago several hundred people got really mad at me because I pointed out that thrift stores exist to fund the charities that run them, not to give people access to cool clothes for cheap.

My favorite part of this is when the vice president of our (terrible) civic federation who always opposes new market rate housing cause it isn’t “truly affordable” showed up to a meeting to complain about parking and traffic from this then proposed project, as this is in her neighborhood
