It turns out that rocks might help fight climate change.
UC Cooperative Extension scientists are studying enhanced rock weathering β adding pulverized rock dust to farm fields β to see how much COβ it can pull from the air while enriching soils.

He wears a white shirt and purple tie, leaning forward intensely. The screenβs right side shows a vertical meter with levels like βBUY NOW!β and βSELL,β with a red marker pointing to βSELL.β The showβs bold graphics include lightning bolts and urgent colors, amplifying the high-energy, frantic vibe.

11.02.2025 22:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Super interesting new publication in @rscsustainability.bsky.social looking at CDR. Definitely add this to your bed time reading. #chemistry #sustainability #carbon #environment #science #CO2
29.01.2025 21:22 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Was proud to work with Pete Psarras at Carbon Direct, along with Hannah Murnen and Barclay Rogers at Graphyte on this manuscript. Have any questions? Let me know!
27.01.2025 18:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We hope that these two measures are intuitive metrics to guide allocation of scarce resources amongst potentially competing uses of biomass and low-carbon energy.
27.01.2025 18:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We relied on public data to conduct harmonized lifecycle assessments, the goal of which is to enable the assessment of diverse CDR approaches on a consistent basis. We also considered a number of "frontier" biomass CDR approaches.
27.01.2025 18:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In "Carbon removal efficiency and energy requirement of engineered carbon removal technologies," colleagues and I compare the "efficiency" and energy use of 12 CDR technologies, including DAC, ERW, and BiCRS pubs.rsc.org/en/content/a...
27.01.2025 18:21 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 1Have you ever wanted to systematically compare the performance of engineered carbon removal technologies? Excited to have a new, open-access paper doing just that.
27.01.2025 18:21 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0I got to work with a wonderful recent ERG PhD, Micah Elias, on this. Congrats to him! Micah is now the director for natural capital at Blue Forest Conservation: hope I can continue to work with him and the great team over there! www.linkedin.com/in/micah-eli...
23.01.2025 18:55 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0We find that restoring a resilient forest structure can generate up to $6,100 per acre in carbon revenue from increased forest carbon and market-ready biomass utilization pathways, potentially fully funding forest management. Good news! 2/
23.01.2025 18:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0New paper: "Carbon finance for forest resilience in California" just published. We focus on the carbon dynamics of forest management in Californiaβs American River watershed. 1/
