These are fringe cases that get their own terms. Most people are workers or owners. You work for a business or you own one. You clock in at a factory, or you own one.

I doubt it's functionally different. If you sell your labor, and don't own your means of production, you are a worker.

There are certain people who are in the margins like Doctors/lawyers who may own their own practice, celebrity athletes/actors.

Working class means people who work. It's not complicated. If you have a boss and you do a job for them, you are working class.
