Thanks for the context and the link! I see where you're coming from now and... yeah, that's surprising. I mean, I knew personal IoT devices largely weren't subject to HIPAA, but that the focus is that narrow is wild. That said, I can't see many legal practitioners not needing insurance payouts.

My day job is working on an EMR and this is definitely NOT how we treat health data regardless of how it's paid for. You might be focusing more on the "portability" part and less on the "accountability" part.

What's insurance got to do with it? Even if you're paying out of pocket, it's still health data and needs to be protected.

And then they take all the pens from storage and dump them in your office, then complain about how everyone has to come to you for pens.

Lying is literally relaying a false statement. Deceit is relaying information to lead people to false conclusions, so it's broader.

Suggest your own spending cuts, Carney government tells CBC, Via Rail and other Crown corporations Nearly all government departments and federally-funded organizations are expected to propose "savings" of up to 15 per cent of their spending in the next three years.

During the election campaign, Mark Carney pledged to increase the CBC’s budget by $150 million dollars a year.

Now that he’s in government, he’s telling the public broadcaster to find up to $198 million in annual cuts. He can’t claim to defend the country when he’s gutting its media and culture.

Sorry, I'm not clear exactly on how I'm doing that (other than being on Bluesky).

BTW, I agree that building community is required, but I don't see how implying people who don't want to go barbecues and potlucks are not "normal" helps with that.

That's a sweeping generalization and problematic use of "normal".

For me, it's a question of accuracy. I've unsubscribed from a few US left-wing channels because most of their titles massively exaggerate what happened or what the impact is. Conversely, I find your titles refreshingly accurate, so keep on keeping on.

Picture of high density urban neighbourhood in Yaletown, Vancouver.

This is really important.

The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people β€” it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

We already got their answer to that and it's been "they deserve it for not working hard enough" for a long long time. The massive wealth gap, however, is a more recent (re-)occurrence.

There's a difference between using AI and using only AI (aka "vibe coding"). I agree that vibe coding results in some terrible slop. For production code though, I review all and edit a lot of what gets generated. And then somebody else reviews that. There's no free lunch.
