BBC News isn't the BBC. The licence funds R&D, Documentary and Natural History, CBBC, and many other great depts. The BBC isn't the bosses.
I keep telling George that if we lose the Beeb, it opens the UK broadcasting door to FOX etc.

You have to remember that "a small group" of people is no more the university than the " controllers" of BBC news is the BBC.
I really hope that the media point any fingers in the direction of any guilty party and not just taint the whole organisation.

My guess is three fold. CIN is housed in a small part of the Media City complex which has seen it's rent hiked massively by Peel. This is forcing the Beeb out; Funds for all depts have been depleted by management for the reasons stated above ( negative PR) and the Public have lost interest.

Never, ever, ever, ever resort to "politics speak" or "corporate speak".
That is how the schism works.
