That I always stood up and spoke out for them. That when they tell me something, I believed them over teachers or family members. That no matter what they did or do, they’re always safe to come to me, and we can figure it out together.

Trying their best. Not “their best” that keeps them comfortable, but “their best” that stretches them & forces them to grow. To sacrifice & be self aware, to know when they messed up & when to apologize to their child. They may not have it altogether, but they’ll choose to show up for their child.

It’s okay to be emotional. It’s ok to feel things. You’re not weak for it, you’re actually stronger cause of it.

Affection. We do family group hugs a billion times a day— and when my girls try to do it with our extended family, it’s so foreign to them 😂

We say it, but I don’t think we understand just how much you legit need a village. Sure, you can do it alone— & many are forced to. But having that village is isn’t just for the child, but for YOU as the parent.

Support, community, relying on trustworthy people, helps break generational traumas.

Whew.

Meeting the needs of this human being who relies on you, looks about to you, needs you for everything… & doing so in a healthy manner that won’t later traumatize them in life…ALL the while balancing your own needs and healing from your own traumas.

It’s hard as hell but worth it.

At the moment— being limited. Can’t do impromptu events w/ just hubby as often as we use to. Having to schedule our lives around things like nap time or babysitter 😂

Watching my girls grow into their personalities, seeing what they love and what they hate. & how they be watching & mimicking me 😂
