Volunteers say “cheers” to Zoe & The Orangery team after they were one of a few small businesses celebrated by Gateshead Council, recognising those that go above & beyond! 🥳
The Orangery team were nominated by local residents in the ‘Eating Out’ category, showcasing Gateshead's vibrant food scene!

It may be a little chilly to sit out around the pond but you may have noticed that our fabulous Garden volunteers have been busy giving this area a facelift - replacing rotted boards with lovely new screening. Cosy corner?😨 Lovely in the sun!🌞🌻 #whickham #gateshead #northeastengland #garden

Fuchsias look wonderful planted in the ground or in a pot like this magellanica variety. Its dark-green foliage provides the perfect mix of dainty pink and purple pendant-shaped flowers. Dave Peacock often experimented with training the plants to grow up a variety of frames in the Garden! 🌻

Our new water lilies can’t quite make up their minds about whether to bloom or not. Still those lily pads make lovely hiding places for the fish & the newts.🤫🌻 #NEFollowers #Pond #Fish #Newts #Garden

Phlox is not everyone’s cup of tea. 👍👎It does have an unmistakable scent though. So distinctive in late summer / early autumn.🌻

“If you go down to the woods today….” When we’re surrounded by greenery, tall trees & stillness it’s sometimes easy to forget that this is a garden in a town. Enjoy forest bathing!

Horizon Scarlet geraniums are looking particularly lovely at the moment. (Photos really cannot do them justice!) You’ll find them on display as you head up the steps towards delicious tea and refreshments in The Orangery! 🌺☕️🍰 #Whickham #Gateshead

Why not take a moment to enjoy the delicate flower & fragrance of our Japanese honeysuckle (lonicera halliana) growing over the old igloo frame? Although not as strong a scent as native honeysuckle, this lovely plant is evergreen. What a great all-rounder!🌻

We have some glorious trees in the Garden. All are special to us but every so often one likes to show off! This stunning Chinese Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus fortunei) has had some beautiful flowers lately. Apparently it copes well with cold & wet conditions which is just why Dave Peacock chose it!🌻

We’ve probably all got our favourite spots in the Garden for sun or shade. Bagsy this one!😎🌻
