I met Larry Doby in 1991 at the Cleveland Play House. We produced August Wilson‘s play Fences about a Negro league ball player & had a media event with Larry at the theatre. Imagine knowing – being absolutely sure – that when you die, 65 or 70% of the country and the world will celebrate your death like nothing they've ever celebrated anything before.
