Okay, I'll say it: Tonight has been an absolute DRUBBING for Texas book banners. Texas voters stood up and said clearly that they're sick of trustees demonizing teachers. They rejected the absurd policing of libraries & books that has plagued our state for years.

V4P’s hundreds of volunteers donated, planned, organized and executed to make last night possible. This effort resulted in helping elect four progressive candidates to the LTISD board in 2024 and 2025. For the first time ever, the LT school district is not controlled by conservatives.

Today the Texas state government released the new budget for education. It’s not good.

They allocated $16,667 per student who attends private school and only $686 per student who attends public school. This is what vouchers (which will most likely pass soon) does to our public education system.

This is HUGE. A massive coalition of organizations—of Texas parents, grandparents, students, librarians, authors, booksellers, along with state and national anti-censorship groups—is lining up to fight censorship in the Texas Capitol this legislative session.
