Developing housing around rural train stations clearly makes sense, it's therefore odd that East West rail will only have one station between St Neots (Tempsford) and Cambridge South - at Cambourne.

Given it is planned to have only 100 parking spaces how on earth is this going to work?

PowerPoint - text wrapping in the middle of words not at the space between words?

Perhaps being a secret military base means visitors can't have links to hostile states?

It really is time to forget about this "special relationship" nonsense - especially with Trump in office.

What if the EU prevented ASML from exporting their photolithography machines to Asia or USA?

These machines are critical to most of the worlds chip fab plants.

And before everyone dives in again and says how important care homes are - I agree. We're battling with the situation for an elderly right now relative BUT for 59 of my 60 years it wasn't on my radar.

You can't win a campaign on an issue that has such niche relevance.

What is staggering in the UK is that Reform, the Tories, and now Labour, appear to be pursuing exactly the same policy of ignoring Brexit as much as possible.

You'd think it'd open up space for the LibDems to be pro EU but all they are interested in is care homes or something utterly boring.

We have an ignorant government who are still petrified of mentioning Brexit in case it upsets a "hero voter" (snowflakes who get angry if you challenge their racist views).

These "hero voters" won't return to Labour anyway so it's all a pathetic waste only paving the way for Farage in no. 10.

Because they don't vote in sufficient numbers compared to old people. Hence why our whole system supports old people at the expense of youngsters.

Quite simply, someone needs to get youngsters involved and out voting in large numbers.

Vince is right but sadly we have a Labour government who still seem petrified of mentioning Brexit in the UK in case it upsets a handful of "hero voters" who are unlikely to return to vote Labour anyway.

Sadly, most Americans are too thick to realise it is them, the consumer, who is paying the tariffs.

As Brexit showed here in the UK manipulating these sorts of voters can be a very profitable game.

I agree, anecdotal evidence suggests many repairs fall apart very quickly.

CCC need to step up and manage their subcontractors far better if they want to avoid this financial waste and reputational harm.

Whilst a contractor can profit handsomely from repeatedly repairing the same hole the employer MUST improve the quality of supervision and inspection.

Taxpayers deserve much better than this LibDem controlled council.

I made an FOI request of Cambridgeshire CC.

Since October 2,403 holes were repaired. CCC quality inspected 122 of which 10 needed the contractor to re-repair (for free) - suggesting 8.2% failure rate.

The quality feedback loop is NOT working, doing bad repairs is a great business model.

Well, that's the view of a concerned parent with a child at one of the Cambridge colleges.

20.02.2026 14:06 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Alternatively, perhaps the colleges should have test kits so they can establish the evidence enabling an official report to be accepted by the Police.

Does such a test exist?

If not, surely the collective intelligence of Cambridge could create one?

20.02.2026 14:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I know college porters play and important, and unrecognised, role in identifying and supporting students who have been spiked.

Ironically the in-college support results in fewer hospital visits and therefore fewer tests and therefore fewer incidents able to be reported to the Police.

20.02.2026 13:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's obviously difficult to know exactly where the spiking occurred but, given the bar to report spiking to the Police is so high, perhaps the Uni/Colleges should create a data collection process to support the anecdotal experience of students?

20.02.2026 13:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The Police won't accept a spiking report unless you have been to hospital and been tested - that is often impossible as the incident is only reported once recovered.

Female students are particularly at risk, the colleges deal with several each week but whether all are reported is debatable.

20.02.2026 13:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I suspect there are many more in reality as Cambridgeshire Constabulary make it so difficult to report an incident.

I've heard of people waiting hours on hold then their mobile battery goes flat and the incident unreported.

I guess it helps keep the crime numbers low if it's difficult to report.

Is it any surprise? Labour's anti-business policies and Brexit redlines are causing recession not growth. Whilst businesses lack confidence it's unsurprising they are not recruiting.
