1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

3. ⁠this is not the moment for an incredibly expensive increase in state surveillance infrastructure to be run for profit by private tech firms just before Labour ushers in an (even more) authoritarian right wing government.

Unbelievable incompetence from the Met. No intelligence pretty much sums it up.

Racists are not just knuckle-draggers. I come from a family of middle-class racists, who denied it. At home, racist jokes and tropes were the norm. One fervent Christian believed that disasters in distant places were God's compassionate way of decreasing the population, as they were "barely human".

How do we fix this mess?

Bear with me, I anticipate your disagreement. There is a clear pattern to the advice given to those who want to press back against rising racism. What it boils down to is that if you point out that racism is often being dressed up as “legitimate concerns” you will alienate people. /1

Why is is so hard for people to say these words?:
