Now That They’re Free, Venezuelan Men Want the World to Know What They Endured in CECOT Venezuelan men deported by the Trump administration say they endured months of physical and mental abuse inside a Salvadoran prison. Though happy to be home, they say the fact that they were released…

#ICYMI: We obtained internal data showing the Trump administration knew at least 197 of the men it sent to CECOT had not been convicted of crimes in the U.S.

Nearly half were whisked out of the U.S. while in the middle of their immigration cases, which should have protected them from deportation.

You are not going to out "tough on crime" fascist Republicans. Because they don't actually care about *crime* - they care about racism and power.

I don’t think I have ever publicly criticized any Presidential nominee before.

But E.J. Antoni is completely unqualified to be BLS Commissioner. He is an extreme partisan and does not have any relevant expertise.

He would be a break from decades of nonpartisan technocrats.

New in PN: The worst chief justice of all time

"American history has no shortage of legendarily bad chief justices and disgraceful decisions. But John Roberts has overseen the wholesale corruption and capture of the Supreme Court, and history should look back on his tenure with revulsion."

Hearst to purchase Dallas Morning News Hearst has expanded its foothold in Texas, and the Dallas purchase means it now owns newspapers in the state’s four largest cities.

Big news for Texas, and the newspaper business. Hearst is the best newspaper chain left, and it now controls all the most important papers in the state.

From Food Aid to Dog Chow? How Trump’s Cuts Hurt Kansas Farmers.

An example of two of the most important aspects of this moment:

Established programs that were central to the economy and lives of specific populations, ones you probably never knew about, are being destroyed by people who didn’t know about them either and..:

From the 1970s into the 2010s, a statement like this would not have coded as particularly partisan or leftist. The fact that virtually no Republican public figure could have said this today is a sign of how much that party has radicalized away from what used to be the center of US politics.

164. Justice Kagan's D.V.D. Concurrence Thursday's denouement in the third-country removals case was not surprising. But the split between Justice Kagan and Justices Sotomayor and Jackson highlights a deeper (and July 4-appropriate) debate.

The divide between Justice Kagan and Justices Sotomayor and Jackson over #SCOTUS’s β€œclarification” in the third-country removal case reflects a broader debate over the role law (and legal arguments) should play in response to mounting executive branch lawlessness.

Grok says yes, cuts have been made.

And regardless of the role NWS cuts played in this particular tragedy, they pave the way for more tragedies like it in the future.

And cuts to FEMA, Medicaid, USAID, SNAP etc. will make it harder to deal with the aftermath.

Not pro-life.

Evangelicals push Trump into conflict with Iran Forget Joe Rogan β€” the Christian right remains Trump's most important constituency

The media coverage of MAGA infighting over war with Iran overlooked one crucial aspect: The biggest, most powerful group of Trump supporters wants war super bad.

Unfortunately, I don't think evangelicals will be satisfied with a single bombing.
