Magazine advertisement for Air Trix, Sega and Hitmaker's 2001 successor to Top Skater, which shifted focus from downhill skating to tricking off half pipes.

18.10.2025 18:59 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0it's come as a shock to pretty much everyone over in the amusement industry - he did suddenly stand down as CEO a few weeks ago, but from the sounds of things he had been ill for the past year and generally kept it quiet (even within sega amusements) until very recently... RIP
16.10.2025 23:27 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0i honestly think it's a regional thing when it comes to touring car as i've seen plenty out there in europe, even years after it released - it's the same thing as sega rally but to a greater extent, as that was at least successful enough to get sequels (though daytona still did better in the US)

This is the story of Sega's R360: The legendary arcade cabinet that spun players around and left arcade floors far too early. Exclusive interviews, developer quotes, and more!
I'd appreciate not only everyone watching, but also sharing this post and the video!

IIRC the arcade version only lasted a year before the cabs got converted to a mushiking revival - in looking at the patent referenced there, i additionally learned that kazuya takahashi (now a director at big N on DK bananza!) was also involved with it, which was the real surprise for me out of this
05.10.2025 23:23 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 095% certain the vet they mention is kazuhiro mori, one of the ridge racer devs that left namco to do rally... was also trying to figure out who the protege is and i think it's this guy, as they also mention him being involved with sega race TV at yu suzuki's later team segaretro.org/Makoto_Shimo...

25.09.2025 19:30 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0am pretty sure they are, sega amusements international have done all the EN marketing besides the stuff on that intl version facebook page from the sega fave side, and were the ones who brought it to AEI in march - their own website does have the page up but no parts segaarcade.com/games/maimai...
09.09.2025 18:01 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1yeah i suspect they tested out a very early incomplete version, got constructive feedback and poor numbers they couldn't find a way of following up on, and that + their staff churn put paid to the game

not gonna lie i did have a good reading on massive chunks of the history it portrays already, but i'm an idiot so fuck me
it's packed full of so much genuine insight, particularly love the musings on the idea of the "mythic arcade" and why it rings false in any context besides a north american one
nobody is a true UK arcade intellectual until they have read this book btw
