A liberal arts degree is proof you value the ability to learn, think, and communicate, and that’s incredibly valuable in any environment. You can teach skills, it’s much harder to teach values.

The other compromise liberals make is essentially to adopt what amounts to the old GOP position that education is for the ultimate interests of employers. No, education is for freedom. It makes us *less* subject to the whims of employers. You’re talking about *training.*

We have a rescue Brittany, who is a delight, but not a good dog for like 98% of dog owners (requires WAY TOO MUCH exercise). [I don't really have much of a point here; I just wanted to share a picture of my dog.]

my unpopular opinion: doodles are generally poorly bred in bulk by profit-minded mills, often sold with BS claims about how easy it is to care for their coats (which leads to dogs suffering), and exist in part because husbands actually want a poodle but think they're gay

At one point, my computer was like 'oh, this is using a lot of memory' and Audacity was using 50 GIGS of memory!

I wanted to like Audacity, but UGH. It failed so spectacularly while I was editing ep 2 of @hugohistory.bsky.social that I have had to learn Garageband on the fly.

Mistress of the Art of Death series by Ariana Franklin. It’s set in medieval Europe, featuring a woman who trained herself in what we’d now call forensic pathology. The covers are absolutely terrible but the books are very good.
