I've known all four of these people just as long. I hope my friends from the first group know we don't always have to be serious, and those from the second know I'll be there for them if they need me. With that said: I am so thankful that I have both of them.

This is in stark contrast to my other longstanding three-person close friend chat, in which we practically never discuss our feelings and exclusively send memes and funny and/or infuriating things we see around.

And the thing is, I really don't know if that's personal growth on my part or a sad lowering of expectations.

These days, I'm just glad they treated me okay and didn't say anything to my face about it, and it doesn't bother me too much.

I get home and read my aftervisit case notes. They misgender me throughout. Hmm.
