So, for instance, in a burning building, actions might generate more Heat, or in an underground bunker, Signal is diminished. Zone conditions are local and temporary. Zones can have their own rule modifiers and mini-games. Zones are generally pointcrawls.

Hardware and software cards are designed to interact with stats and resources, as are zone (world) elements. Through these interactions, story emerges.

Resources include:
• Scrap: physical materials used to repair and craft hardware. Has weight → affects Load
• Data Fragments: digital, weightless, used to upgrade software, solve puzzles, research schematics
• Schematics: blueprints to make new hardware
• Integrity: individual hardware part "health"

Stats include:
• Energy: basically action points
• Heat: accumulates, must be vented / cooled
• Load: weight & payload bulk
• Signal: comms, affects research rate and upgrade draft quality
• RAM: max software hand size
• Charge: energy recharge rate, hand limit mechanic

The player defines their robot through a tableau of hardware cards which define stats, and a draw deck of software cards which express actions.

Something I work on in my spare time is a solo #TTRPG deckbuilder game concept I've been calling RUNR, in which a lone robot explores and survives a broken, indifferent future world, zone by zone.

And re. voiced/unvoiced: my conlang brings back distinct characters for unvoiced "th as in thin" and voiced "th as in than".

Also there's no /h/ at all, but /x/ (the fricative in "loch") gets a character.

Oooh, I'd considered that too at one point, but chickened out 😅 due to concern that I'd too quickly run out of viable sound combos to support expressing hundreds or thousands of concepts, y'know?

My thought:
• Bi- and tri-literal roots ("kresoi", "ukiors"): Flexible vowel expression, fixed patterns, vowel choices indicate emotion, tone, and context
• Short words with one C and one or more non-flexible V ("amu", "wai"): Grammatical helpers (pronouns, prepositions, markers, conjunctions)

Attempting my first #conlang, and of course I'm aiming high with a hybrid abjad-like design, where consonants are semantic roots, vowel placement indicates part of speech, and vowel choice indicates expressivity (e.g. "agbual" and "ugbeil" mean the same thing, but carry different emotion). #hardmode

I'd be on board too!

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

This succinctly expresses the very thought that's been surfacing in my head for a long while. Figured I'd search around to see if anyone else agrees with me, and I'm glad I did, because this says it better than I would have.

I'd also accept "themself" as an alternative variant to "theirself".
