Lovely Post Box Topper spotted in sunny Bedford this week, on my flying visit (I did not fly) to the dentist.

It also helps foster a generally more positive outlook to have words of affirmation rather than correction :-)

I recently heard car rides described as 'tin tabernacles', so on my drive today I have been listening to the Blind Boys Of Alabama.

A crocheted post box topper. There is a base in several shades of green, on top of which is a little bed with a crocheted blanket in stripes of blue, white and purple. There are three grey teddy bears (babies) tucked up in bed, and two standing at the foot of the bed. The one on the left is in a blue outfit, and the one on the right is in pink. There is a larger figure - parent or carer perhaps - on the left of the topper, and some crocheted toys surrounding,. Over the bed is a smiling yellow sun.

West Suffolk Hospital 'blanketeers' post box topper, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Lovely! Helping make the hospital a more cheerful place, it certainly put a smile on my face, thank you

Photo of a book shelf with a close-up of 4 books by Louid De Berniers, a view of their spines. In yellow, Light Over Lisgard, then a triology. First, in blue, The Autumn of the Ace, second, in dark brown, So Much Left Over, and lastly in a shade of umber, The Dust That Falls from Dreams. The author's name is in white, in a cursive script, and the titles are in capital letters in a font that is different each time, but are pleasing together. They have the feel or Art Deco movie posters.

It's been a while since I posted about what I am reading, so here are 4 for the price of 1! The wonderful Louis De Berniers with a magical realism set in the future - a wonderful departure - & a trilogy about a family through t last century.
All highly recommended.

A photo of a crocheted orange pumpkin with a smily face. In its pumpkin arms, it holds up a sign saying 'Positive Pumpkin. I may be a tiny pumpkin, but I believe in you. Go do your thing!' It sits on some artificial leaves in the colours of autumn, next to a plastic pumpkin (not in the shot fully) and a Burts Bees gift pack, with a background of dark fabric.

β€˜The man who came to read the metre’: Yorkshire poet Tony Harrison was the National Theatre bard Harrison, who has died aged 88, wrote copiously for the stage, both as an ingenious translator and dazzlingly original dramatist

www.theguardian.com/stage/2025/s...

The Mystery Plays had (and have) a huge impact on me. Tony Harrison was a genius and the National Theatre saw this and created magic with The Mystery Plays. Rest in Peace Tony and thank you for your legacy.

I've been veggie since I was 15, so Bovril doesn't feature for me, but it certainly seems to have dropped from people's diets when it was very present in my childhood (58F). Mind, our snack at one point was sugar and cinnamon on toast, also something I don't know anyone else having!

I didn’t sleep very well last night. One of the many dreams was about making stop-motion animation of the (toy) mice in my dollhouse. Even while dreaming, I knew this was a rubbish idea.

There are eight house sparrows in the #birdbath by my home office. I'm not sure if this is a record, but it's definitely evidence that water is as important for our wildlife as food.

Sorry, no photo as I didn't want to disturb them!

It’s the end of the bank holiday weekend, & what exciting things have been happening in the party-zone that is the Foster-Jennison household? Have we spent all weekend in the pub? At a festival? Visiting friends?

No.

Making plum jam & laying new Lino in the Futility Room.

Thanks for asking.

A post box topper. Knitted and crocheted figures, on a green crocheted topper. Central is a scarecrow style figure, seated, surrounded by flowers, leaves and mini-beasts, bugs and a hedgehog. To the rear is a knitted pumpkin, and a large sunflower. Very colourful and bright.
