Itβs not just that weβre spending too much money on any particular project.
Itβs that we could be getting *much more transit* for the *same amount of money weβre currently spending*.
I'll give them a listen just for that dope af album cover.

I know from personal experience that this exception has been the case for many years.
Today I went to an academic lecture that was about gay cruising in Mexico's subway system and academic discourse can honestly be so fun sometimes.

13.09.2025 08:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The TTC is an absurd transit agency. There's not even any indication on their Twitter of any issues with the 504 line. This is apparently normal and ok?

Montrealβs sustainable mobility corridors (βcorridors de mobilitΓ© durableβ), like here on Henri-Bourassa, are transforming arterial roads with bus lanes *and* protected bike lanes at the same time.
The both internal and external pressures to be a perfect by-the-book parent and mould your kids into the best possible versions of themselves seems absolutely exhausting.
Can't fault people who look at that prospect and go "Nah, I'm good."
Well, this is horrifying.
(I think I'm gonna start a new "Well, this is horrifying" series)
This all being said, the official viewing area's playlist can only be described as "Imagine Dragons-y" and so they could likely use some help from my playlist.

I really wish the left could stop being enemies of joy on *so many fronts*.
Loud noises scare babies/dogs would not even be an argument people aren't embarassed to raise in almost any other country.
This is an event that has been around for almost 80 years. It was here before you and will be here after you. You don't have to like it, but literally thousands of people do.
Got into another of those quintessential airshow conversations with someone in my building. "It scared my baby!" You mean, kind of like literally almost anything?
I assure you your baby will be fine. Also you have a full head of grey hair, so I'm kind of doubting the existence of this "baby".
It's not long enough to last you the whole airshow, but this is easily rectified by playing Hilary Duffy's Fly about 40 times.

Say you're in negotiations with counterparty X. And there are two possible deals on the table ...
Ha, perfect. I called it "humiliation" when writing about not finding a washroom open in Toronto last week. That's exactly what it is, every elected official humiliating their constituents.

It can be a good thing to reduce traffic and gridlock, mitigate climate change, etc.
The fact that it doesn't also solve inequality is ok. Progressive policy making needs to stop believing that every policy needs to solve every public isssue.
The knee jerk response against a class system in any transit systems, for example, is short-sighted IMO.
If we can convince well-to-do people to take transit en masse by offering a service they are willing to take, this is a net benefit overall.
Adding to this, is my often unpopular opinion that we can make public transit better by making it more *pleasant*.
We sometimes focus entirely on the utilitarian methods of making transit better and have almost no focus on making it more comfortable, enjoyable, or simply "pretty", etc.
I'm glad to see this "we actually need to build things or STFU" narrative slowly rising among progressive thought leaders in the US.
Not sure I've seen the same thing in Canada, where progressive apologism for government red tape seems to be more stubborn.
