I could read decades of sci-fi from the most annoying Golden Age authors.
I could peruse the most cringe things on TikTok.
And still, I could never come up with the deeply embarrassing things Sam Altman says on any given Tuesday

Here's a list of all the places Trump is building concentration camps to brutalize non-white men, women, and kidsβincluding many in the US legally and some who are citizens.
Most will be sent to die in places they've never been to or to be tortured by Trump pals.
# = Prisoners.

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivityβand it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago | Fortune
In the 1980s, economist Robert Solow made an observation that reminded economists of todayβs AI boom: βYou can see the computer age everywhere but in the productivity statistics.β
βNearly 90% of firms said AI has had no impact on employment or productivity over the last three years, the research noted. However, firmsβ expectations of AIβs workplace and economic impact remained substantial: Executives forecast AI will increase productivity by 1.4%β

Tony Gonzales had affair with aide who set herself on fire, ex-staffer says
Months before her death, Regina Santos-Aviles texted a fellow Gonzales staffer saying she had an affair with the congressman. He has ducked questions about it.
BREAKING: I obtained text messages in which an aide to U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-San Antonio, acknowledged she "had an affair with our boss."
2 sources said the affair was an "open secret" in the office. The staffer died by suicide last year. @expressnews.com:

Email from Epstein to Goertzel: "free and home"
Goertzel replies: ";-))) Congratulations!!!! Actually, I was just about to send you an email summarizing my recent progress, current situation, and future hypothetical plans...I'll probably do so tomorrow. I'm sure you're super-swamped, but it would be great to get together when you have the chance... ben"
Goertzel continues: "p.s. Also, the Singularity Summit (futurist conference, but with some good scientific speakers this year) will be in NY this year, Oct 3-4...and Oct 5-6, afterwards, there will be a brainstorming workshop I think you might enjoy (where, basically, the ~20 speakers from the Summit will get together and try to make conceptual progress on various future-science issues). I'll remind you again when the date gets closer!"
Ben Goertzel, popularizer of the term AGI and creator of the Sophia robot, congratulating Jeffrey Epstein the day after Epstein was released from prison.
Goertzel is mentioned in the files nearly 800 times, including well after the Miami Herald investigation in 2018.

Dear Mr. Nadeau:
As long as there is one upright man, as long as there is one compassionate woman, the contagion may spread and the scene is not desolate. Hope is the thing that is left to us, in a bad time. I shall get up Sunday morning and wind the clock, as a contribution to order and steadfastness.
Sailors have an expression about the weather: they say, the weather is a great bluffer. I guess the same is true of our human society β things can look dark, then a break shows in the clouds, and all is changed, sometimes rather suddenly. It is quite obvious that the human race has made a queer mess of life on this planet. But as a people we probably harbor seeds of goodness that have lain for a long time waiting to sprout when the conditions are right. Manβs curiosity, his relentlessness, his inventiveness, his ingenuity have led him into deep trouble. We can only hope that these same traits will enable him to claw his way out.
Hang on to your hat. Hang on to your hope. And wind the clock, for tomorrow is another day.
Sincerely,
E. B. White
I just stumbled across this and thought some of you might like to see it. A letter from E.B. White to a man who'd written he'd lost all hope:

I keep bringing up Googleglass because itβs a reminder that widespread opprobrium is still a useful tool. If your friend says he plans on buying them, tell him they are for creeps. If someone shows up to your party with them, ask them to leave. Brand these as a product for losers and pervs.

One of the Minnesotans who stood up was Gust Johnson, a Vietnam war vet and nurse
He went to scene after Alex Pretti was killed
Agents repeatedly sprayed him in face
They tackled him (knocking out hearing aid and cutting arm)
They shackled him.
They held him ten hours.
They kept his phone.
