I know what you mean. I lost Jade in May. I’ve been mostly okay lately. But yesterday I had a moment of “but I’ll never hear the DING JADE IS DONE bowl flip after I feed the dogs ever again.” And yeah. It hits when it hits. It’s the price of love. And it’s a high one. But it’s worth it. Hugs.

Divorced in March. Good thing, but still a lot. My dog died in May. I signed over my house to my ex last week. And my truck has been in the shop for a big repair on an old vehicle - had to think long and hard on repair versus replace, but it’s just…a lot. So I’m fixing her and crossing my fingers.

Not to pile on, but every 'c' in 'Pacific Ocean' is pronounced differently.

I know you know this, but it’s population control. Overall net gain. But yeah…

Don’t forget “flip up Friday.” I espoused dresses & skirts too early to be subjected to this. Only forced into them weekly for church. Some flipping but not bad. But B’s mom forced her into them regularly for years. And every Friday at school, it was the same. Sexualized assault considered normal.

This is a just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it’s good thing. Wolves eat crap food. And they get sick and die from that sometimes. They live half as long as dogs for a reason. Wild horses average 15. Domestic horses can hit 30. Usually in the 20s. But still.

Anyway, yeah. Horses are crazy.

So the point is valid. Their design is all sorts of special. But it must work mostly well enough for them.

But do remember wild animals don’t live long. The double edged sword of domestication is trading some health issues for longevity. Hooves in the wild don’t bear weight for two decades.

We always said horses were designed by committee in school. I did equine practice for a few years. And they’re a mess. Domestication has caused some issues. Mostly with teeth and joints. But poop shouldn’t make three u-turns and go uphill. And walking on nails attached by Velcro is just not great.

And on the other: I don’t own a house anymore. Was privileged with that for the past 14 years. But alas. Worth it, but... So my truck is what I have, you know? Still, I’m ok. And I should remind myself of that more.

*granted, I can afford it because I don’t much throw money away, & I save for the eventual need for a new vehicle even when current one is paid off, but you follow. And sure, I don’t *want* to drop funds on a new truck. But I could if I had to. And that makes me very privileged indeed. Acknowledged.

My truck is in the shop. It’s old. I’ve been having the great debate of fix or new. I reminded myself that what I spend on a Dragon Con hotel is what it takes to repair my truck. And that I can afford the repair *or* a new vehicle*. And I told myself to calm down. That I was very privileged. So.

B and I were just talking about Dragon Con in this regard. How we expect a lower attendance due to fewer international attendees and guests. They’ve kept a lot of virtual programming since lockdown, but I’d like to see more.

And yeah. It’s absolutely a privilege to do such things.

I kept expecting a certain helper who can’t be predicted to help. And he did. Just not in the way I thought. Instead, he found a better way. Also, I don’t use treats like this. But I so almost fell for this marketing.

But I didn’t quit forever. I came back to the diamond in college. Intramurals. Played for a decade that way, through my whole upper education. And it helped me with this costume, so… wanna play? ;)

It’s a cult, I know. But it’s just nuts.

And band isn’t much better! I didn’t pay anything to be in marching band for four years. Some fundraisers, but not more except for a few trips that again, I fundraised for.

The whole thing is just bizarre to me. And yes, youth sports industry indeed.
