And since so much is getting framed as Left-vs-Right politics right now, let me just say that forcing vets into a for-cost medical system doesn’t strike me as beneficial to either side of the political aisle. 5/6

I receive great care through the VA but if you haven’t had to navigate the VA’s IT systems, I can guarantee you that they are not user friendly. What I can see happening is a bunch of vets who would otherwise get care through the VA being pushed to seek care through the private $$$ector. 4/6

Fewer staff at the VA will make it harder for vets to get care and there are no IT/computer frameworks in place to facilitate our needs without human support. 3/6

Punching down to hurt those most vulnerable is a pretty cowardly move. I also fail to see how this will further the admin’s/DOGE’s supposed cost-saving objective. 2/6

I imagine that this will hit vets in rural areas and who rely more heavily on community care the hardest. While some vets are from those areas, many others move to rural areas for the lower cost of living, particularly if VA disability forms a big part of one’s income. 1/6
