A landscape in silhouette - black against an inky blue sky. We see the outline of a church tower in front of a river, with trees and a few houses. Overhead in the starry sky there is a meteor shower

Session is generally 10 days, sesshin an intense 3 day period within those 10 days.

Zen sesshin is not everyone's cup of tea; but I sincerely, in my heart feel everyone should do it. As a way to authentically touch the mind.

Italian movie, called Le Pigeon in France and remade as Small Town Crooks by Woody Allen, is, if you like European film, the daddy of them all & a hugely important film in Italian cinema.

Rock star shares débauched life everyone loves it, yet if I shared a few tales I would be looked on with approbation. That's capitalism.

But, as Marxists, do we not ask ourselves the question of the priveleging of individual consciousness & the aestheticisation of experience before everything else, swans, cakes?

A troubadour weary from walking all night looks up. That castle is his next gig, & hes written a cracking aubade for its Queen.

If Austen was 'on one' one feels it would impair her remarkable facilities of sensibility & discernement, while possibly opening her up to a sense of life freed of the rigidities of class.

A documentary on Claude Nobs, Montreux born & bred, showing some of the greatest music & performances of last 50 years. The moral of the story? If you stay in your home town, don't leave, stick with your earliest passions and never ever waver, you can achieve the greatest of things.

That's nice! From the point of view of someone who thinks in parenthesis - all the time, I think in sub clauses - dashes can be nice as a relief from all the sub clauses. 🤓

It strikes me you can use a dash like Leora said, but why not a bracket? I'll use a dash like that sometimes; but if I ask myself, honestly, am I not using a dash for *aesthetic* reasons rather than ponderous looking brackets. 🤓

I remember getting a day off school in 1977 to talk to the local paper about "how the modern world will look." They completely distorted my words. ( It was a class attack. )
