Can you also test if one could securely park their bike in those places too? I find my biggest hiderance to going places on my bike is not having a secure place to park it.

After looking at many pictures of an emoto vs e-bike the consistent difference is "has a bike seat on an adjustable seat post". That is also the difference between something that can be reasonably peddled (bike) or not (moto). It is not perfect but would get us 90% there and easily identifiable.

Car-lite is a great way to put it. While I still have a car, designing my life so that I rarely *need* to drive has saved me a tonne. My 20 year old car paid in cash is fine because all the concerns about an old car aren't that important when your life doesn't hing on your car starting that day.

I am well aware of that and all evidence indicates this is causation. I agree that it is a tax, but a voluntary one which also improves safety. It is pretty much a win win. The only reason to be against it is because you are a bad driver, which is an odd thing to be comfortable admitting publicly.

Alberta took away speed cameras this year and in Edmonton fatal vehicle collisions are up, likely to break a 10 year record by YE. Street racing and noise is becoming a much larger issue. Maybe they aren't the best way (traffic calming measures is the best way) but they do make a difference.

Your SUV is also more dangerous to every other car on the road and their SUVs are a danger to you. If everyone drives a giant SUV no one is safer.

SUV's are safer for the people in the vehicle and decidedly less safe for everyone else.

The arms race of vehicle size in the name of "safety" creates more losers than winners.
