Caramels on one front burner. Toffees on the other front burner. Weight goals definitely on the back burner.

Two frogs enjoying a cup of tea or a bowl of broth. The one on the left says “how are things?” The one on the right thinks, “don’t be weird,” and says “time isn’t real.”

It's me, I'm on the right.

Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookies (Published 2023)

I’m afraid these are destined for board game night tonight, BUT I can offer you a care package in the form of… the recipe! cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1024...

Chocolate cookies sit on a cooling rack. They’re coated in cinnamon sugar and they have oozy marshmallows seeping out from cracks in them.

Mexican hot chocolate cookies. I just love this recipe, even though (maybe because???) it's a little fiddly.

Tim Walz's fundraising campaign just sent an email from his dog, Scout, with the subject "Woof." It reads, "My favorite human needs to raise $50,000 before tomorrow at midnight."

In addition to adoring Gov. Walz, I am deeply susceptible to the personification of animals. Take my money.

I'm under two blankets, a book, and a dog. I don't often wish I could use The Force, as it generally seems more trouble than it's worth. But I would use it so hard right now to make more tea.

A photo of a page from LOTR. It reads: “After the feast (more or less) came the Speech. Most of the company were, however, now in a tolerant mood, at that delightful stage which they called
'filling up the corners'. They were sipping their favourite drinks, and nibbling at their favourite dainties, and their fears were forgotten. They were prepared to listen to anything, and to cheer at every full stop.”

A Tolkienism that should have gone mainstream like "Second Breakfast" is in Chapter 1 of The Fellowship of the Ring. After a feast, hobbits engage in what they call, "filling up the corners." This is my current status.

Not me trauma-dumping on the poor 20 year old kid working at Jersey Mike's, who just tried to make polite conversation while he made my sandwich by asking me what I'm thankful for this year.

I made my newest holiday recipe (discovered last year) that has no right being as good as it is. It's inspired by Australian Rocky Road, made with Biscoff cookie butter (omg!!), melted chocolate, marshmallows, Biscoff cookies, pecans, and spice drops. Sounds weird but it's unreal amazing.

A picture of a mug that says “my holidays are booked” with a Christmas tree made out of books. It’s in front of a fireplace with stockings hanging from the mantel. There are easily 20 mini marshmallows and a candy cane in it.

Being an adult is putting as many goddamn marshmallows into my hot chocolate as I want.

A large sign posted on a fence surrounding a construction site. It shows a drawing of a construction worker wearing PPE, with labels pointing out required items like hard hat and eye protection. But the drawing of the worker is full on Village-People-esque thirst trap.

I'm all for ensuring proper PPE is worn on construction sites, but did this sign have to go so hard?

I was in a workout class this morning. The coach said something hyperbolic about, "having to do 37 burpees." It was compulsive. I couldn't stop it. I yelled, "IN A ROW?" Everyone just stared at me. 🫠

Has anyone else read the book Orbital? I'm not usually a fan of super literary books like this but… is this maybe the closest I'll ever get to really viscerally understanding what it's like to be an astronaut?

Why does AirPods audio routing only fail and fall back (at top volume!) to iPhone speakers when attractive men are around? And why does it only happen when I'm listening to an operatic version of Hark the Herald Angels Sing and never when I'm enjoying some super cool indie tunes?

I watched the new Superman movie on a plane just now. Admittedly I dislike superhero movies. But why doesn't someone make a Clark Kent film?? I would find it endlessly more enjoyable.

Artistically placed hexagons, one of which has mirror image code… looks like some hacked up JavaScript or maybe Typescript. There’s no white space and it’s clearly meant to be art, but it just hurts.
