I did not say that. If you're trying to pick a fight on the internet go find someone who actually said the thing you want to argue against

Yes but I am neither Cory Booker nor Gavin Newsom

17.02.2026 21:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, I wasn't being sarcastic, I was trying to figure out what this person meant. Thanks for jumping in though

Who are you talking to right now? I am never voting for Newsom (or Klobuchar, or Shapiro, or Whitmer, or Ro Khanna) unless they're the eventual nominee

17.02.2026 19:00 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No, I am not saying this is a bad stance. The bad stance would be actually following through and withholding a vote if the alternative is JD Vance.

Who the fuck is the "you guys" here?

17.02.2026 17:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I do not. Your cynicism has to be at least connected to reality if you want to pass yourself off as someone really wise about politics

17.02.2026 17:42 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Lol no one is actually this stupid

17.02.2026 17:36 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Right, I don't know who I'm voting for in the primary (not Newsom), but once that's over it's really important that JD Vance lose

17.02.2026 17:35 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh I see. Then once a nominee is chosen and there's no other alternative to JD Vance, *then* you'll hold your nose and vote for them. It's just better to make them think they need to fight for your vote. Got it.

17.02.2026 17:02 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

The question is whether you'd vote for these people if they're the nominee. I voted for Bernie and then Warren in the last two primaries and then voted for Hillary and Biden in the general, which was an exceptionally easy moral choice

17.02.2026 16:54 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm a progressive and I need Donald Trump and JD Vance not to be the fucking president

17.02.2026 16:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

So is the line somewhere between Kamala and newsom? Kamala OK but newsom not? (To be clear I hate Newsom and don't think he'll be the nominee)

17.02.2026 16:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Is this an accelerationist thing?

17.02.2026 16:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So if it's JD Vance vs Newsom, what's your plan?

The deterrence calculus is probably a little different for the rich & powerful who never face consequences vs. the general public.

Iran Contra and J6 are probably better examples than the Civil War, though I think it's fair to question how much senior CSA leadership really was punished.

I remember this home run like my parents remember the Kennedy assassination, just era-defining for a kid from south Louisiana

Super interesting, thanks for answering. Really enjoy your newsletter! Would love to find something similar for Vancouver, where I'm moving later this month

Got it. So what's the reason for using low-floor trains on a brand new line?

Dumb question but what does floor height have to do with the number of doors?

Look at the post you were responding to: "The district was Trump +13 in 2024. This is a 37 point shift left."

It's a shift left in *partisan voting results*. The meaning is clear!

08.02.2026 09:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It wasn't defended *in the last election* because Republicans didn't contest it. So a Democrat held the seat because Republicans didn't run anyone against the Dem in 2023. Dems just defended against a Republican flip of the seat.

It wasn't defended. The last time people in this district voted was the 2024 presidential election. Now apologize to all the people you've accused of being bad at math
