I used to think it was depressing having no-one read my writing, but at least the occasional comments were from real people.

It's a million times worse to see the occasional trickle of hits and know they're all just bots, feeding your work into the slop machine.

Gulls labelled 'air rats' in seaside cull campaign John Greenshields, who goes by his campaign name Cliff Head, visited Felixstowe from London and has hit out at black-headed gulls (seagulls).

"Black-headed gulls are the worst" says the idiot talking about something that is clearly NOT a black-headed gull (the clue is in the name?), while holding out custard creams to tempt it in for a photo-op in a story bitching about how aggressive they are about stealing food. 🤦‍♀️

...yes this is two chapters worth of setup for the sole purpose of getting one little idiot off his nice safe clean spaceship, so I can put him in danger again.

AI will put in some em dashes, then apologise and take them out when told off.

Human authors will climb the filing cabinet, hissing, and defend their right to em dashes with a loaded stapler.

This took a lot of passes to figure out where it was going. I had an idea but not a clear vision, and so it had to be discovered bit by bit as I painted. I changed my mind a few times and there was a lot of "what if I tried this", but I'm very happy with it :)

But then plotholes appear, and I go and science it up while I'm trying to fix them.

Like, two zeroids having very long conversations because one is stuck on Mars...
