Cincinnati made its modern streetcar free in 2020. Ridership has doubled. In May, it had the highest ridership of 65 transit routes serving the Cincinnati region, 7 of which run 24/7. It is 5X more productive than an average Cincinnati bus measured by passengers per vehicle per hour.

Pretty interesting how everywhere Trump has business associates and/or business interests did fine today: the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Turkey, the UK, Israel, El Salvador, Argentina, and of course Russia—which is full of people Trump wants to work with in the future. Only China got screwed.

Cincinnati has made its preference known to ODOT. Waiting to see what ODOT will do.

Cincinnati will narrow the I-75 ROW, put it in a trench, and re-establish part of the street grid over I-75 to reconnect the CBD with the land west of the freeway - similar to what we did with I-71 on the south side of the CBD in the late 1990's.

Also Cincinnati. Reduced I-71 ROW by half, put it in a trench and restored the street grid passing over it. Gained 14 acres of land and seamless access to new riverfront.

Well, sure, but in Cincinnati’s case, 60-minute headways are a straw man.

Cincinnati's modern streetcar became free in 2020. Ridership doubled. 10-15 min headways. Ranks #2 in ridership among 85 regional routes. Leads in pax/veh/hour by a huge margin. Public cost per pax less than Metro bus. City gets paid from massive reinvestment/ihigher tax yields along the line.
