Yeah, that’s the stage he’s at now for sure. He’s fighting against FIDE and also any of the young talents who are coming through and potentially taking him down.

But importantly, unlike McGregor, he had sustained success for a long time in a way few others ever have. And he remains one of, if not the, most talented chess player in the world today.

Unlike Conor, he was actually the greatest, for a decade+, successfully defending the title every time. He won the world championship at 22, defended it for a decade, and has been rated #1 for basically 15 straight years.
